The Pocket

The Pocket is an unusual piece of accommodation: a guest suite built specifically for touring musicians and the people who follow them, in an 1884 building directly next door to the Off Broadway music venue.

Its owners describe it as a jam suite rather than a guest house, and the fittings bear that out. There is a custom jam room with a backline already set up, so a band can play without unloading the van; a wet bar; a bathroom and a half; and a sleeping room that takes five. Parking behind the building is gated, which matters a great deal to anyone travelling with instruments.

The appeal is obvious for a band playing Off Broadway – the stage is next door – but it works equally well for anyone in town for a show anywhere in St. Louis, or for a group of friends who would rather have a room they can make noise in than a row of hotel rooms where they cannot.

The Pocket sits in the Cherokee-Lemp district, a short walk from Cherokee Street and the antique shops, and within easy reach of the Lemp Mansion and the rest of the neighbourhood.
