Louisiana Fish and Chicken

Louisiana Fish and Chicken, also known as Pop’s, is a fried fish and chicken counter on South Jefferson, and it does what that kind of place does well: fries to order, serves generously and stays open late.

The menu is built on catfish and chicken. Fish and chicken combinations, whole wing meals and catfish nuggets are what move fastest, alongside tenders, whole jack and the sides that go with them. This is the St. Louis fried fish tradition – a genuine local institution in its own right, with roots in the city’s Black neighbourhoods and its own conventions about how the fish is cut, battered and served.

Orders are made for takeaway and delivery as much as for eating in, and the shop is on all the usual delivery platforms.
