Taqueria Las Brasas

Taqueria Las Brasas is a Mexican restaurant at 2738 Cherokee Street, at the eastern end of the street where Cherokee’s Mexican businesses are concentrated.

This stretch of Cherokee Street – roughly from the 2600 block eastwards – has been the heart of Mexican St. Louis for some decades, and it is the reason people from all over the region drive here to eat. Taquerias, panaderias, carnicerias and grocery shops stand more or less shoulder to shoulder, and the standard among them is high enough that locals argue about the rankings.

The kitchen keeps long hours, opening in the middle of the morning and running into the evening seven days a week, which suits both a late breakfast and a late dinner.

Our listing for this business is thin, and we would rather say so than pad it with guesswork. If you run Las Brasas, or eat there often, we would be glad of a fuller description – the link at the side of this page reaches us.
