Verde on Cherokee

Verde on Cherokee is an event venue built around a greenhouse, and it is one of the more unexpected spaces on the Row – a glass room in the middle of a nineteenth-century brick street.

The heated greenhouse is the heart of it, furnished with vintage and eclectic lounge pieces rather than the folding chairs and skirted tables that most rental spaces run to. Around it are a large concrete patio strung with lights, a side yard with a covered deck, and indoor showroom and studio lounge spaces, which between them let the venue work in any weather and at several different sizes. Capacity runs to around a hundred.

It takes weddings, receptions, parties, photography and film shoots, and the sort of small gatherings that want somewhere with character and no house style to fight against. The greenhouse setting does most of the decorating on its own, which is a large part of the appeal for anyone who has priced up flowers lately.

Verde stands at 2118 Cherokee Street, in the middle of Cherokee Antique Row among the antique dealers, vintage shops and restaurants – which makes it a practical choice for an event where guests are going to want somewhere to go before and afterwards.
